How I work
I offer one-to-one counselling, providing a safe, confidential environment for clients to talk through difficult life situations, working to bring about effective change and enhanced well-being using a broad range of therapeutic tools.
My work is based on an integrative model where I initially use a person-centred approach to support clients in clearly identifying the core issue / trauma which is causing their distress. I then integrate a range of therapeutic approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Thought Field Therapy to process the trauma and alleviate associated distress.
I also provide a cross-professional model of supervision supporting professionals to creatively manage the personal impact of their client work.
Who I work with
I have 15 years’ experience working in the public and voluntary sectors and also in private practice, including organisations supporting clients with cancer and conflict related traumas.
The trauma of a potentially life-threatening illness will often retrigger past unresolved trauma and so my experience has been extensive in a broad range of issues including; Cancer, Trauma, IVF, Bereavement, Eating Disorders, Self-Harm, Anxiety, Depression, Stress
and Anger Management.
I work with adults, children and young people. I also work with a range of front line health professionals who are impacted by their interaction with traumatised clients, to minimise burnout and vicarious traumatisation, promote self-care and maintain a healthy work / life balance.
