How I work
My therapeutic approach is primarily person-centred. However I often work in an Integrative way which simply means that I draw on many therapeutic approaches in order to best help the client.
This can include Cognitive-Behavioural (CBT) and Solution Focused techniques to address a particular concern or reach a specific goal. At all times, I aim to provide a safe, confidential space based on respect, non-judgement, equality and trust.
Who I work with
In my practice I see adults referred via Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) both locally and nationally and am registered with the private medical insurers BUPA and AXA. I also see students aged 16 upwards in the local college, SERC Bangor.
As a volunteer and Supervisor with Cruse Bereavement Care I have the opportunity to support those experiencing grief following a recent bereavement, or those whose mourning is experienced as delayed, prolonged, conflicted or traumatic.
I also see clients struggling with the aftermath of a traumatic experience such as an accident, assault, near death experience, natural disaster or those who have witnessed a tragedy. They may be experiencing panic attacks, nightmares, flashbacks, avoidance behaviours and may be involuntarily triggered for many years after the actual event.
As a trained Couple Counsellor, I see clients whose relationship is under strain because of financial pressure, affairs, lifestyle differences or difficulties around intimacy.
My personal insights into Infertility have allowed me to support those struggling with the intense emotional and physical toll that medical intervention brings.
For several years I was a 'Helpliner' with Infertility-Network, the UK's foremost infertility charity. This involved offering telephone support to women undergoing a range of treatments, from unexplained infertility, miscarriage, IVF, ICSI, egg donation, and childlessness.
