How I Work
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that has a comprehensive evidence base and is a recommended treatment in NICE guidelines. CBT aims to help you to deal with problems that can feel overwhelming, by breaking them down into smaller parts.
I work closely with clients, helping them to manage their problems by focusing on how thoughts can affect your feelings and behaviours. The process helps clients to identify and restructure negative thinking patterns, so that they can significantly improve how they feel.
As a CBT practitioner I help each client to learn to identify negative and destructive behavioural patterns and replace them with positive, helpful behaviours, to improve mood and to greatly reduce distress.
Who I work with
I currently work in private practice, drawing on extensive experience gained in a range of settings including GP surgeries, university and college counselling services and employee assistance programmes.
I work closely with my clients, building an effective relationship where we work together to reduce symptoms and greatly improve quality of life. I often work with clients on areas including depression, low confidence and self esteem, anxiety and panic attacks, stress, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, anger management and trauma.
