How I work

I offer one-to-one counselling and psychotherapy for adults. I work in partnership with individuals to help them with the life problems they face including, low mood, loss, relationship issues and problems relating to their sense of identity. I also work with clients who may have a sense that things are not right in their life, but who may find it difficult to understand why.

My approach takes full account of the present, but also explores aspects of the past and of earlier experiences and life events. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced abuse in childhood and with adults who have experienced sexual violence, having worked in a specialized agency where I received training and specialist supervision in this area.

The duration of therapy will vary according to the client’s needs and aims, but I usually work with clients for periods of between 3 and 12 months, or sometimes longer.

My work is based on relational approach, (drawing on psychodynamic and person-centred approaches), which depends on the establishment of a trusting relationship between us, where you will feel able to explore your problems without any fear of judgement.

My aim is to help you to gain a clearer understanding of your situation, allowing you to begin to make changes in your life, with the aim of improving your sense of well-being. I work within the General Data Protection Regulations and the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Who I work with

I work with adult clients in private practice, having gained years of experience in a range of agency settings.
